Food Bank

At Yardley, we pride ourselves on our community spirit and ethos. We work closely with our families to give them the support and help they need. Due to the current situation we are facing, some of our families are finding they need more support than ever.

We have made the decision to try and help our families by operating a school food bank from our site. We know that some parents have been made redundant, been furloughed and lost their employment and as such, are finding times hard. But no one should go hungry and if we can help out, whether short or long term, we will.

Donations
The school have asked for donations to the food bank and the response has been overwhelming. We are still collecting donations via the school office should you wish to donate. The box by the office entrance will be emptied daily and placed into our store room.

Currently, we are asking for donations of the following items:

  • Tinned fruit
  • Tinned vegetables
  • Meat
  • Tea and coffee
  • Sugar
  • Squash
  • Toiletries

Yardley Primary School have also partnered with the Fareshare scheme, to ensure supplies of both fresh food and perishables are available.

Food from Fareshare and public donations will be sorted into parcels ready for collection.

Am I eligible?
If you are able to answer ‘yes’ to any of the following statements and you are prepared to contact the school to discuss your circumstances, you may be eligible to receive a food parcel.
I have recently been furloughed, made redundant or lost my job.
I have a limited income due to circumstances that are out of my control.
I am self-employed but not entitled to a government grant and have no / limited hours of work.
I am not in work due to another reason.
I need a temporary package for a different reason for example, bereavement, unexpected financial outgoings, on a lesser income due to maternity or sick pay, returned to work but hours are reduced, agency staff, etc.

If you need support, but feel you do not fit into any of these categories, please still come forward as we may be able to help or signpost you to other agencies who can offer further help and advice.

How do I receive a parcel?
Claiming a food parcel is simple. All you need to do is fill out the form below. It is important that you complete all sections of the form. Once submitted, Mr Jones will contact you to discuss your specific needs. You may also be offered the opportunity to discuss ‘Early Help’ support and could be signposted to other agencies to further support you and your family.

We will only collect the data necessary in order to operate the food bank.

Collections will be organised by Mr Jones. Food parcels will be available to collect from the school site. We will ensure that all collections are able to take place in a discreet manner.
